Titled "I Was in a Cult and I Love Volcanoes," this work began with an infusion of burnt rosemary and sage. Within its essence, I depict an internal landscape born from my experiences within the cult during adolescence. Those teachings, steeped in fear, subservience, and autocracy, have left an indelible mark on me.
Early on, I realized my need for vast amounts of freedom to thrive, thus turning inward to fulfill my visceral needs. This introspective journey became a realm where I scrutinized human relationships and explored the true essence of unconstrained expression, along with its potential repercussions. These experiences profoundly shaped my ideological outlook and artistic approach.
Through emotive layers of softness and tonality, I intertwine moments of liberated individuality amidst cacophony and chaos. This expressionistic dance of texture and light aims to reveal the resolute nature of the human spirit. The profound truth lies in the unstoppable force of creation, akin to an untamed volcanic landscape.
oh please
before I fall into despair
come close and whisper
softly
clear
of sorrow
loss
of god and tears
of minutes missed
remain
please remain
past the end of forever
past the end of the dock
past the curves of your limbs
your lines that interlock
please remain
I can hear it
the sand is humming
I can feel it
the departure
of time
