E.E. Jacks (b. 1985, Long Beach) is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Southern California. She works in a variety of media and is known for her nocturne and naturalistic paintings.

Over the years Jacks has come to respect the linear, synonymous lines between impressionism, expressionism, and abstraction. Her creative approach and process taps into romanticism, shape, form and the sentimental.

“Part of what influences me is societal relationships with the natural world. I wish to illustrate, that balance can be had in our exchanges with nature and to encourage a search for those connections.

I strive to understand the universe, by revealing, analyzing and capturing moments.

I am constantly thinking about perspective and how to concisely catalogue and present ideas. From loneliness to resilience, I find that humanity and my personal history seeps into the paint.

At the beginning of every piece I focus on inserting emotion and motion and then work on top of those layers, imbuing the realities of our changing external and emotional scapes.”
