”I truly enjoy painting planets and all aspects of space. ‘Mars in Rouge’ is a piece that explores introspection as well as expectation. The darker background slowly enveloping the red planet, plays on those themes and hopefully sparks a bit of wonder and awe.” -Jacks

Intuitive Machines IM-1 Launch

The Lunar Codex curated my painting into the archive of contemporary culture, in time capsules launched via NASA Artemis / CLPS program partners to the Moon.

My piece ‘Mars in Rouge’ from the Virtual CAC Exhibition MARS: AN ARTISTIC MISSION will be launched again in Polaris time capsules, February of 2025.

First Launch: Feb 15, 2024 NOVA Capsule
Launch Site:
Kennedy Space Center, Florida
Vehicle:
SpaceX Falcon 9

Lunar Codex files were onboard a NanoFiche disc stack attached to the frame of Intuitive Machines' Nova-C class lunar lander Odysseus, launched February 15, 2024.

The Lunar Codex includes creative contemporary arts and music from over 67 separate Indigenous peoples from the North American, Eurasian, and Australian continents.

Because of this, as an arts and culture project, the Lunar Codex has been called the most expansive, international, and diverse collection of contemporary culture launched into space.

Finally, the Lunar Codex has, through partners, reserved payload space with Astrobotic for the 2024 Griffin/VIPER mission (to the Lunar South Pole, to be launched via SpaceX around November 2024, but may be delayed to February 2025.
